Dani Cattan (Uruguayan-American) received a Bachelors degree in Photography, Art Activism and Latin@ Studies from Hampshire College in 2012. In May 2012, she was a panelist for the Ninth Annual Humanities and Cultural Studies Conference as a David Smith Scholar recipient, presenting “Latinidad in the Art World: A Visual Exploration of Belonging”. With En Foco from 2011 to 2015, Cattan joined the permanent staff as Program Associate in 2012, became the Program Director in Fall 2013 and in July 2014, Managing Director. She assumed the part-time role of Editorial Assistant/Copy Editor for En Foco’s Permanent Collection Catalogue, published in 2013 and Editor for Nueva Luz vol. 18:3 (Summer 2014) and 19:1(Winter 2015). She was a portfolio reviewer for PhotoPlus Expo (2014 & 2013) and FotoFest (2014). She was the curator for Cambio Totál/ Total Change exhibition to raise funds for victims of hurricane Sandy in Cuba (2013). She co-presented En Foco’s workshop, 'Foot in the Door' in January 2014, and the 'Seeing it Through' workshop with the Bronx Council on the Arts in November 2014. She was also a panelist for the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance in September 2014, and the Bronx Council on the Art’s BRIO awards in April 2014. In March 2015, she curated an exhibition at the Mephis School of Art, Imaging Now: Collected Visions. She is currently a juror for the Latin American Fotografia Four call for entry, (AI-AP). She is currently traveling South America, working on a new photographic series.
